The Third Way

I have just discovered a third candidate for the 11th CD. Her name is Dina Padilla and she will be running on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket. Dina, like Jerry in 2004, was a write-in candidate during the primary.

Now, the Peace and Freedom Party only as about 550 members in San Joaquin County. So, no one really expects her to win much. However, the very fact that she is running indicates that she sees a ties in between the corporate support for Pombo (and his equally evil twin John Doolittle) and the issues that motivated her to become politically active: corporate fraud in the insurance industry, especially in health care and workman's compensation cases. Note: the link above is a story that relates the fact that the Chair of the Fraud Assessment Commission is in fact the VP of Cost Risk Management for Safeway, Inc., a clear conflict of interest.

If Dina can truly tie this clearly to either Doolittle or Pombo, she is doing us all a very big favor.

She's doing us ALL a huge favor. Now that Jerry has deserted us on Iraq and other core issues, we have a truly progressive candidate to back. We need to get behind her. Jerry "Pombo light" cant win.

What kind of nonsense is this? Sure, anyone can qualify and run, but she has absolutely no chance of winning and a vote for her is a vote taken from Jerry.

Besides, what is a "truly progressive" candidate? I read the "Peace & Freedom" platform, and they should rename the party to "Stoned Old Hippies Party" or "Love, Peace, Drugs, and Sex Party". They take idealism to level it was never meant to go, beyond wishful thinking into absurdity.

A few of their points are okay, but many are idealistic gibberish and the rest are just plain ridiculous. Check out their platform.

Please, Dina, go home and smoke a joint. Sit around the campfire naked and play drums with all those guys wearing dresses. Later, put on your organic hemp clothes and sing "War is Over", and feel all warm and fuzzy about it - but please, don't embarrass yourself by trying to run for office in the real world.

VPO --
I think you may have missed a few salient points here.

"Jim" is just a troll (they're kinda cute when they name themselves) who is hoping to sow dissension among McNerney supporters by asserting that McNerney has changed his position on "Iraq and other core issues." That strategy seems to be all the rage among Pombo trolls these days.

As to Dina Padilla, if you read the link in Delta's post, you'll see that she qualified for the November ballot as a write-in candidate for the P&F Party. To make the ballot, she had to garner the support of 2% of the party's 532 members -- or ten write-in votes. Clearly, she does not represent much of a threat to the major candidates in this race, so it's probably not necessary to go after her in full attack mode -- that is, unless you were hoping to join her by the campfire ;-).

You are right, Babaloo. Her candidacy has very little support. It just irks me when "Peace & Freedom" becomes "Wacky & Silly". Maybe she should partner with that other venerable troll we had for awhile, Manny. He is running for President in 2008. Maybe he needs a running mate??

Besides, I was just having fun with her. Sometimes my joking side can seem harsh when it is meant as fun.

And on that note, where's Rocky and Apollo been? I kind of miss them.

I read their platform and it doesn't sound much different than the progressive democratic platform. They just admit it.

Well, I guess it is good to have a far left candidate. We already have a far right extremist candidate in Pombo. His platform is even wackier and stupidier than the Peace & Freedom bunch!

Thanks for the comments, Dina. You are brave to run and take all the abuse that is dished out, whether here or elsewhere. Even if the Peach & Freedom party is a bit too far left for me, it is good have another voice in the ring.

Like I said earlier, we have a far right extremist already in the race (Pombo), so why not a far leftie also? And, even if a bit unrealistic, your platform at least has some humanity and caring in it, in contrast to Pombo's corporate shill agenda.

Hello Dina P. I like your spunk keep up the good work. Getting elected should be about the issues stay on course. These guys out here who have never run, don't understand what it is about. Your going to need money, that is the first thing that comes out everyone mouth.

Good luck.

VPO: I thought you were someone who really understood what this game was all about. It might be nonsense to see Ms. Padilla, run but the trend is to the Latino community is getting stronger. People like Dick Montjoy and Ben Gilmore and a guy named Dean have destroyed it for any other minorities like Italians, and Greeks. A letter that was sent to me in 2000 from a office tied to Montjoy's office said quote we don't like Mafia looking type candidates. Even the Portuguese are getting a better deal than the Italians and Greeks. Every now and then an Armenian like Aghazarian slip threw the circle of benevolence. The Republican right so called Moral Majority have hi-jacked the party. A great example is Arnold Blackcorner,
