Election Results as I get them.

I will keep editing and updating this post as results are available.

I am not going to make it through the night. It looks like this is going down to the wire. With 34% of precincts reporting....

Jerry McNerney (Dem)37,353 51.3%
Richard W. Pombo (Rep)35,516 48.7 %

It is pretty clear now that this comes down to whether or not McNerney was able to turn out enough voters in Alameda County, where he has a commanding lead, or Contra Costa County where he is leading a bit, to offset Pombo's lead in San Joaquin County, which is about 54% - 46%.

For the actual count... click here.

San Joaquin is 80% in as of 12:09am and Alameda hasn't even broken 50% reporting. If this keeps up, Jerry pads his lead and wins comfortably. Hell Yes!

It's near official. CNN and others have projected McNerney as the winner. With SJ accounted for, there is no way for Pombo to win. It's unreal.

I just called my niece, she said Jerry gave a victory speech a little while ago! With 95% of the precincts in, its 80,121 (53%) to 72,512 (47%). He won't even be able to go with a recount with that kind of lead! Not that close at all.

Yup. I think you can fold up your shingle and go about your business, satisfied with a job well done! I know I'll go home, go back to work, and feel like the world is moving in a new direction.

Congratulations to all!

But keep an eye on things; I don't think it's quite over yet. They got 2 whole years to think about ways to sandbag an honest man.
